FAVOURITES OF THE FLY-FISHERMAN

The Ängeså River
The Ängeså River is one of the most famous tributary rivers to the Kalix River. In addition to a favourable fishery, with opportunities for grayling and salmon- trout, the river is a concept for the salmon-angler. It is predominantly the fly-fisherman who is attracted to the watercourse, which has a favourable size for this activity, since the river is relatively shallow, easy to fish and easy to wade across. On various locations along the shores, prepared wind shields and rest areas, suitable for grilling food are to be found. During a couple of years, the Ängeså River held the Swedish record for grayling, and the question remains if larger salmons have been caught anywhere else. Despite its name, this tributary river is as large as a normal, Swedish forest river, and harbours several pleasant and fishable streams and rapids. Among these, we might mention the well-known Siskots Rapids and Långforssel. Few rivers in the north have had such a solid reputation as this inviting forest water, when it comes to catching large salmon, salmon trout and grayling.

The Lina River
Midway on the stretch down towards Överkalix, the Lina River flows into the Ängeså River. In the very final part of the river, the highest waterfall in the County of Norrbotten is to be found, the 16 metre high Lina Fall. Downstream this magnificent fall, several habitats for climbing salmon and sea salmon trout, are to be found.
