THE GRAYLING PARADISE

Some kilometres downstream the fishing grounds around Tjuonajokk, the Kaitum River flows through untouched mountain forest terrain. It meets classic fishing grounds at Lietik, Tertojokk and Riekko before it plunges on, towards the village Kaitum. The area with the most favourable stock of grayling, is located around Tjuonajokk. Downstream of this location, the grayling is more and more frequent, and the river is still one of our best salmon-fish waters. Downstream of the Kaitum village, the magnificent waterfall Killingenlinkka, close to the village Killinge, is to be found. One might generally claim that the waterfall is the end station for the migrating salmons, though one or two fishes still come through. In these lower parts of the Kaitum River, nice angling might be experienced along the stretch from Killinge down towards Neitusuando and Lappeasuando. Well known fishing grounds are Gruvselet and Kojselet, where it - in addition to grayling and salmon trout - is possible to go a few rounds against the several migrating salmons of the Kalix River.
