KAMLUNGE - THE RAPID OF DREAMS
" Already during the 1960´s when I was roaming the home forests of Jämtland, I knew about the classical fishing-grounds near Kamlunge. In my magazines there were stories about gigantic salmon fish, huge graylings, sea salmon trout and popular whitefish-feasts. "Quotation derived from Magazine Kalix Älv
South of Morjärv, one might find the coastal streams, around the villages Kamlunge and Bondersbyn. Here, whitefish is caught by means of traditional methods, coupled with an array of family-friendly activities. A classic dish in this area is whitefish grilled over a charcoal fire, a Nordic delicacy with traditions dating many centuries back in time. Kamlunge and Bondersbyn have throughout all ages been well-known fishing-grounds for the angler. The grayling is the dominating fish, but during early spring, a pleasant jig-fishing is exercised for streaming grayling and whitefish. The area holds a solid reputation for being the best location in the Kalix River, for catching the sea salmon trout. During the last couple of years, the streams have proven to be exceptional locations for salmon-fishing, and every year, several fine salmons are caught using the rod.
At Mariebergs Fiskecamp och Viltfarm there are adventures to be found for each and every person. The beautiful farmhouse is located between Morjärv and Kalix and is an eldorado for visitors interested in fishing, nature and culture. The establishment offers activities for the entire family, such as animal breeding in a farmhouse environment, angling, whitefish-raking and wilderness tours.
Kalix is located at the coast and might be described as the main metropolis of the river valley. I-B Stugor och Fiske offers cosy tours into the archipelago with pleasant accommodation on some of several archipelago islands. The searching and emptying of salmon-hoop nets and bleak nets are some of the other activities offered here.
